The Grape presents a tenor battle on October 15, pairing Aidan Farrell, a DownBeat Award-winning saxophonist and rising force on the LA jazz scene, with veteran tenor player Doug Webb, in the tradition of the great two-horn showdowns from Gordon and Ammons to Cohn and Sims. Farrell’s rich tone and sophisticated musical vocabulary set him apart as a bandleader, composer, and recording artist, while Webb has spent decades as one of the most recorded and in-demand saxophonists on the West Coast. It is a rare chance to hear two generations of LA tenor players sharing a stage, bringing their different styles together in a battle that will make for an unbelievable night of music.
