Red Young is a pianist, Hammond organist, vocalist, arranger, composer, and bandleader whose remarkable career has crossed blues, jazz, soul, rock, swing, and roots music for more than five decades. He has toured and recorded with artists including Eric Burdon, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Armatrading, Sonny & Cher, Dolly Parton, Marcia Ball, Ruthie Foster, James McMurtry, Janiva Magness, Kirk Fletcher, and many others, with his work appearing on hundreds of recordings as well as television and film. His live credits include Austin City Limits, HBO, Germany’s Rockpalast, major festivals around the world, and nearly two decades as a featured performer on Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches Cruise.

A musician since childhood, Red gave his first concert at age ten and began touring professionally at eighteen. Over the years he has led numerous projects, including Red & The Red Hots, Red Young & His Hot Horns, organ and piano trios, and a variety of jazz and blues ensembles. His acclaimed Hot Horns project blends the sounds of Ray Charles, Count Basie, Jimmy Witherspoon, Percy Mayfield, Charles Mingus, and Red’s own original material into a high-energy big-band setting. Whether performing solo piano, Hammond organ jazz, jump blues, soul, or full horn-driven arrangements, Red brings decades of experience, spontaneity, and unmistakable personality to every performance.
