Friday, July 17, 2026 – Nick Mancini / John Storie Quartet at The Grape Ventura

Nick Mancini – vibes
John Storie – guitar
Frank Ojeda – bass
Shawn Baltazor – drums

Vibraphonist/Marimbist Nick Mancini and guitarist John Storie will make a rare appearance at The Grape in Ventura for one night only. Known for his high-trust performance style that invites audiences directly into his musical world, Mancini balances bold risk-taking with a grounded sense of confidence and melodic clarity. Born in upstate New York, Mancini spent a decade in the New York City scene and 14 years in Los Angeles before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he lives with his wife and two children. He’s shared the stage and collaborated with an array of musical luminaries, from Arturo Sandoval to Kamasi Washington. Nick remains a creative force on the Los Angeles jazz scene – a distinction he’s held for 16+ years and running.

Oregon-based guitarist, vocalist, bandleader, arranger, and composer John Storie has toured with Melissa Manchester, Ann Hampton Callaway, Sarah McKenzie, Jeff Goldblum’s Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, Miley Cyrus, Inara George, Gregory Porter, as well as his own quartet and the award-winning trio New West Guitars.

The quartet will be rounded out by Frank Ojeda on bass and Shawn Baltazor on drums. Together, they will explore the timeless guitar and vibraphone driven collaborations of Milt Jackson and Wes Montgomery, and Gary Burton and Pat Metheny; leaving room for original compositions by both leaders.

With decades of shared musical experiences between these veteran musicians, audiences can expect insightful, fearless, and spontaneous performances throughout the evening.
