Lewis Porter on piano, Doug Webb on sax, Chris Colangelo on bass and Matt Gordy on drums.

This is a “don’t miss”! Porter wrote the classic bio of Trane, and he’s deep into Monk as well. He’s a Grammy-nominated New York-based pianist, educator, and author who has recorded with Dave Liebman, Marc Ribot, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, and many others.
Doug Webb is well-known for his sax work with everybody from Quincy Jones to the Tonight Show Band. Chris Colangelo also played bass with the Tonight Show, as well as the Count Basie and Bob Mintzer bands. And Matt Gordy has played drums with Sinatra, Bennett, Joni Mitchell, Mintzer and George Russell.
Lewis Porter, New York-based pianist, educator, author, has performed across the USA and Europe and was nominated for a Grammy in 1995. He appears on 37 other albums with Dave Liebman, Marc Ribot, Gary Bartz, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, Tia Fuller and many others. Critics write that his music makes “a beautifully creative whole” and that he is “a first-rate pianist.” Holding a Ph.D. in musicology, he is well-known as an educator and author, most notably of a celebrated book on Coltrane. His acclaimed weekly jazz essay series on Substack,  “Playback with Lewis Porter”(https://lewisporter.substack.com), is followed by about 5,000  jazz fans, scholars, and musicians worldwide.
