Two of Los Angeles’ most innovative young lions, saxophonist Jordan Leicht and trumpeter Michael Gutierrez, come together again with their high energy Quintet, this time featuring the world renowned Josh Nelson! Gutierrez and Leicht began playing together in 2014 while studying at California State University, Northridge. They immediately found admiration in each other’s musical capabilities and bonded over their shared jazz heroes John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley, Sonny Rollins, Woody Shaw, and Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. They are excited to present their Quintet group featuring their original compositions and modern approach to ‘straight ahead’ jazz.
