Delta by the Beach plays original rocking, song-oriented juke joint music. The trio has been described as ‘Chuck Berry crossed with Lighnin’ Hopkins with just a dash of Black Sabbath’.
They formed for a one-time show at Namba Arts in Ventura, California four years ago.
Musicians Doc Ventura, Milo Sledge and Eddie Layman persisted. They recorded an album of original songs. “The Single of the Month” was named for the band’s successful commitment to creating a new track every four weeks. They received one million streams on Spotify.
The name ‘Delta by the Beach’ means the blues are well travelled and universal. The band plays the music of the Mississippi Delta but their California coastal roots add a splash of brightness and swing. The band is dedicated to growing the blues audience and respectfully adding their unique vision to the rich tapestry of modern blues.
They have recently returned from performing in the land where the blues was born, Mississippi. They performed two shows at Morgan Freeman’s world famous Ground Zero Blues Club. Other notable gigs include backing for South Central Soul Legend Sonny Green, opening for Canned Heat, Ojai Blues Festival, Harvelle’s in LA, Maui Sugar Mill, Oxnard Jazz Festival, Kern River Rock and Blues Festival and Red’s Lounge, Clarksdale Mississippi.
