Chris Plasencia Trio

Christine Plasencia, throughout her career as a music instructor and performer, has always nurtured the
love of music in herself and her students. Christine earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in violin
performance from Central Michigan University (1982-1986). She continued graduate work in
performance and music education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale (1986-1989). During this
time she played in several professional symphonies including Saginaw Symphony (1984-1986), Memphis
Symphony (1987), and the Springfield Symphony (1987-1989). Christine’s interest in musical styles
shifted over the years to fiddle and jazz styles. Over the years she has lead several bands including
Fiddle Gumbo, Segue and most recently Chris & Tim and Friends.

Greg Spaulding is a versatile and much sought after pianist. He is classically trained,
with a degree in music from U.C. Santa Barbara and a passion for jazz. Notable
musicians he has performed with include Airto Moreira, Ed Shaughnessy, Carl
Saunders, and Bobby Rodriguez. A skilled composer and lyricist, Greg has composed
for film and writes and directs children’s musicals. He has been accompanist and/or
musical director of productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Shrek, In the Heights, The Sound
of Music, Grease and many others. Greg has played with the Ojai Pops Orchestra, the
Ray Mehlbaum Quartet, Swing Shift Big Band, the Greg Spaulding Trio, the Ventura
Jazz Collective, the Ventura Klezmer Band and many other groups. Current projects
include playing with the jazz fusion group King Masala and the soul/funk/Latin band

Tim Martinez is a passionate musician, woodworker and cook whose creativity shines through everything he does. Whether improvising a guitar solo, crafting a custom piece of furniture, or creating something memorable in the kitchen, Tim approaches every endeavor with imagination, precision, and heart.

Influenced by artists such as Elton John, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Rush, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Jeff Beck, and Genesis, Tim developed his musicianship largely through self-study. Over the years he has performed in rock bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, show productions, and vocal groups, cultivating a lifelong love of musical performance.
