Tina Raymond Trio

October 19 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$15 cover

Los Angeles based drummer Tina Raymond is Director of Jazz Studies at California State University Northridge, and President Elect of California Alliance for Jazz. Her second record as a leader, Divinations (Imani Records 2023) features six original compositions inspired by tarot cards from various decks. Her first release as a leader, Left Right Left (Orenda 2017), a tribute to protest music throughout American History, received critical acclaim. Brian Zimmerman of Down Beat Magazine writes, “Raymond displays ferocious chops and a remarkable sense of balance, supporting… as much as she asserts her individual voice.” In addition to leading projects of her own, she performs as a sidewoman with the likes of Bobby Bradford, Eric Revis, Rachel Eckroth, Vinny Golia, and Billy Mohler. A rising star in jazz education, Raymond maintains an active adjudicator, guest director, clinician, and guest artist calendar.

Andrew Renfroe is best known as the first-call guitarist for artists including Braxton Cook, Carmen Lundy, Tia Fuller, Ned Goold, Keyon Harold, and Jonathan Barber. Also based in Los Angeles, his spellbinding musical vision can be heard on his 2020 EP Dark Grey [“wide-ranging selection … hard-hitting and swinging … crisp and assertive” – jazzweekly.com], as well as on Divinations. Renfroe is currently jazz guitar faculty at California State University Northridge.

Karl McComas-Reichl is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger living in Los Angeles, carefully crafting beautiful music. One of the most in demand bass players in Los Angeles, McComas-Reichl can be heard with Jane Monheit, Joshua White, Logan Richardson, Gerald Clayton, and Louis Cole. His latest and fourth solo release, Three Coyotes, is an ambient and introspective journey.
